Downward Dog Kennels is a home away from home for your four-legged friend. Whether they’re coming for a night or an extended stay, we promise they’ll have the best care possible.

Downward Dog is a boutique dog boarding kennel located on 12 acres in the beautiful Hawkes Bay countryside. We take a maximum of ten dogs at a time. When you and your furry friend come to Downward Dog, you become part of our family.

Dogs are housed in individual kennels with access to a private outdoor run. They are also exercised together in a large paddock for a total of 6 hours a day. All dogs are fed Stockman & Paddock dog food.

I can highly recommend Downward Kennels and its owner, Dani. The kennels are clean and dry and the dogs have plenty of opportunity to play during the day as well. The dogs get separate play time and you even get picture updates send to you. I have put my two dogs twice into the care of Downward Kennels and will it again in the future.

We would highly recommend Dani at Downward Dog to look after your dog. Having had our dog Molly spend time in a few other kennels in the past, we would never go anywhere else after having her here. We are able to relax and enjoy our holidays knowing that Molly is spending time in such a beautiful and caring environment, where she is super happy and has all of her needs met.

Timba, our 10 year old Chocolate Lab, has recently spent 10 days at Downward Dog kennel. We could not be more impressed with how well he has been cared for while in Dani's care. Due to an injury he was unable to have normal 'play' time with other dogs as he was on gentle exercise only. Dani was very accommodating and very supportive in ensuring Timba received the care and exercise he required. During his stay we recieved photos of his time and updates if we requested. He looked incredibly happy and content when we picked him up. The kennels are set amongst amazing scenery, fantastic areas for them to hang out and play with plenty of shade available. It is well worth the drive.. Dani has been very communicative and approachable leading up to and throughout Timba's stay. We definitely will be looking to book him in again when up in the bay.
